Rachel & Chris
Dear Birth Parent,
Although we don’t know one another, we know just by what you are doing and the plans you are making for your child mean you are an amazing, selfless and loving person! And although we could never understand what you are going through, we do understand that sometimes things in life are difficult and not as we might have planned. For us, our reality has helped us know what is important in our hearts. We believe the road we are on is the one we were meant to travel and feel confident we are exactly where we are meant to be. And although our journey differs from yours, our goals are the same: to provide a loving, supportive, nurturing and stable home to your beautiful child.
We cherish our family, believe in being good to each other & other people, following our hearts (even when it might be difficult), putting family above all else and allowing each other the space to grow. Our most precious times are those everyday moments and we can’t wait share those moments with a little one: talking about our day while making dinner, leisurely Sunday mornings in our pj’s hanging with the pups and making breakfast, and family time such as walking the Columbia Trail, going to the movies, gardening or playing in the snow, do-it-yourself house projects, or playing games together. We dream of the time we will have a little one to go apple picking with, make our yearly fudge for Valentine’s Day, teach a love of animals and the outdoors, and make chocolate chip cookies together just because.
Please know when we close our eyes and imagine a little one running around, there are giggles in the air and as they grow, we see a vibrant, smart, happy, funny person who knows how much they are loved. Knowing how much our hearts yearn to have a baby only highlights how difficult this must be for your heart. We wish for you peace and faith in your journey. We look forward getting to know you and for you, us.
With love in our hearts,
Rachel & Chris
About Rachel by Chris:
“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.” –-Mark Twain
This quote sums up exactly who Rachel is. I have been made a better person in all these years by just being around Rachel. Rachel is the calming influence, the upbeat person always making lemonade out of life’s lemons, with a laugh that is unforgettable and contagious. Rachel has always supported my ideas and direction in life, helping make hard changes easy and ambitions come true. She is not afraid to speak her mind that is never closed off to others opinions. She always seeks to find the best in everyone and tries to bring that out. She also shares my love of travel, having been to almost every state and several countries around the world.
The biggest thing that I know will make Rachel a great mom is she is a teacher and a student at heart. I have seen her work with our nieces and nephews on something as simple as tying their shoes or having a political discussion with the older teenagers. A lot of people will lecture children into who they ‘should’ be. Rachel always helps them discover who they are and what their right road to be on is. She is loving, encouraging, goofy and always has a smile. Rachel sensitive nature makes her in tune with others, and she’s gentle even when she may be ‘correcting’ our nieces, nephews or friend’s children. I know Rachel’s going to be one of those mom’s everyone wishes they had.
About Chris by Rachel:
Chris is the best friend anyone could ask for. He’s loyal, thoughtful, compassionate, funny and smart. He’s the guy who ALWAYS helps someone he doesn’t know. But he always does it with a joke and witty remark so they feel good about him being there. He’s the person that everyone wants to talk because he loves to laugh and he’s always interested in others. He’s hard-working, yet adventurous and loves to travel.
I know he’s going to be a great father because he ALWAYS makes anything we do more fun, he’s gentle yet protective, he’s dedicated and will be there no matter what gets thrown our way, and he’s got a huge heart. When he is with our nieces, nephews or friend’s kids, they don’t understand why Chris has to go home because they are having so much fun together.
Chris is a big sports person – played everything from when he was a little boy, through high school, college and is still active playing basketball, mountain biking, and lifting. Years ago I asked him, what if we have a kid that doesn’t like sports? Without pausing for an instant he said, they’ll be the best chess player or whatever else it is they love. I knew then, he will be a phenomenal father because no matter what, Chris will love and support, mentor and adore, encourage and protect because that’s what great dads do! Needless to say, I cannot wait to see him fall in love with a beautiful baby and become a daddy so he can share his love, wisdom, and heart.
Our house is 4 bedrooms with a huge yard (almost 5 acres) in the Northeast. We are surrounded by a nature preserve in a country setting that is still minutes to anything we need. Two acres of our back yard is totally fenced in for lots of playing and running around. We spend a lot of time in the yard with our vegetable garden, out in the snow, playing with the pups and just hanging out. We love our home (it took a long time to find what we wanted) and love being able to veg-out, do house projects or have friends and family visit. We were excited the home we fell love with is in one of the top school districts in the state.
We Promise To:
- Love unconditionally, with many hugs, kisses & I love you’s every day
- Provide a safe environment with structure & guidance, always framed within love & encouragement
- Teach the value of family, education & learning, hard work, humor, compassion & loyalty
- Encourage independence & allow space to grow into a confident individual while always providing support and stability
Buddy is our 13-year-old Boston Terrier/Lab pup and Mac is our 3-year-old Dutch Shepard/Lab. Both were adopted and have become close brothers. They love children, are incredibly sweet and gentle, and love being part of the family. They can’t wait to have a baby in the house to snuggle!
